Mind the Trek- Explore the Inca tracks on Minds upcoming trip to Peru .

“Walking through the Sungate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time was an overwhelming experience.” Peru challenger, 2004-09-29

May 30th 2005 will mark Mind’s’ fifth trip to Peru, a magical and stimulating journey through the Peruvian Andes with a unique opportunity to trek along the ancient and rarely explored tracks of the lost city of Machu Picchu.

Trekkers will fly to Lima on the 30th of May 2005 and return on 09 June 2005 .

The trip includes an amazing one-hour flight to the beautiful village of Cusco over the Andes Mountains , where trekkers can visit its cathedrals and markets, and observe the many Inca remains in and around the city.

The route through the Peruvian Andes takes in stunning views of snow-capped mountains, emerald glacial lakes, waterfalls and the spectacular Urubamba River , which is a direct tributary of Amazon.  Along valleys, pine forests and isolated hamlets hardly changed since Inca time, trekkers will encounter llama and alpaca living in the wild and they will capture stunning views of Urubamba valley and the exhilarating view of Machu Picchu .

Participants pay only £299 and have to reach a minimum sponsorship level of £2600.  In return they will get Mind’s support all the way, from providing advice and ideas on raising sponsorship money to supplying training guides and fitness programmes.

All events are open to individuals, couples and groups.

Mind believes that exercise can improve mental fitness and help prevent the distress that 1 in every 4 people encounter every year.  Milder forms of depression, anxiety and low self-esteem are among the mental health problems that can be improved through exercise.
