PRIMARY CARE VERSION OF TEMPORAL SCANNING THERMOMETER IS LAUNCHED BY ACTAMED

The Exergen 2000 Temporal Scanner developed for use by GP’s, Practice and Community Nurses

The revolutionary temporal scanning thermometer, introduced into UK hospitals earlier this year, is now available to Primary healthcare practitioners with the launch of a new low-cost model aimed for use in all Primary Care settings.

The widespread popularity of the Exergen TemporalScannerTM, in the US healthcare market and its rapid adoption rate in hospitals in the UK over the last year has led the instrument’s UK distributor, Actamed, a specialist in patient temperature management, to launch a low-cost version of the hand-held innovative thermometer aimed at GPs, Practice and Community Nurses.

Based on infrared technology the Exergen TemporalScannerTM provides a quick, easy and non-invasive method of accurate temperature measurement. “These attributes,” says Actamed’s Sales & Marketing Director Colin Lloyd, “make the Exergen TemporalScannerTM ideally suited to the requirements of today’s primary care practitioner.”

Mr Lloyd said: “ The Exergen TemporalScannerTM is not only easier to use than tympanic thermometers but also provides a more accurate and almost instant reading. By gently stroking the Exergen TemporalScannerTM across the forehead, it will provide a reading in approximately 3 seconds without the discomfort associated with oral, rectal or tympanic thermometers, making it very patient-friendly. Patients like it far more than other methods of thermometry because it is much easier to use with babies, children, the elderly or indeed anyone who is in distress and might be difficult to examine. An additional bonus is that it can also save practices and clinics a substantial sum of money as it does not need disposable thermometer covers.”

“All the reasons why the Exergen TemporalScannerTM, was so successfully taken up by hospital departments in the UK like Outpatients and A&E apply just as much to the Primary Care setting, so we are anticipating it will be equally well received by the doctors and nurses working in both within clinics and surgeries and the within the community.”
