Accessing
reliable information is made simpler for health professionals and cancer
patients using the very latest Directory of information materials for
people with cancer. The 6th edition of the free directory is
launched today by Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Designed
for both those who work in the information field and people affected by
cancer, it provides good quality, comprehensive and appropriate cancer
information on treatment and living with different types of cancer.
"High
quality information is essential if people affected by cancer are to
have choices about their lives and care. Receiving a cancer diagnosis
can be very daunting for both the patient and those close to them, so
having access to reliable information makes a real difference,"
says Ruth Carlyle, Cancer Information Strategy Manager for Macmillan
Cancer Relief.
"There
are thousands of
UK
leaflets
on cancer and over 18 million websites internationally which can make it
very difficult to access the right materials and information. To have a
single source of reference for quality-appraised resources is
invaluable." she continued.
The
directory includes over 740 booklets and leaflets, plus an extended book
and international websites section. The directory was developed in
partnership with the former Centre for Health Information Quality.
Information
from the directory can be sourced using the online search facility at www.macmillan.org.uk/cancerpublications.
A limited number of copies are available from telephone: 01344 350 310.
