Become
a Friend of FACE The education
charity Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) has produced its
business plan for 2009 – 2013, setting out how it will build on its
firm foundation and further expand the reach of the charity’s work
with schools and farmers. FACE wants all
children to understand where their food comes from, and to know how to
choose and prepare healthy food as part of a balanced diet. It believes
that young people learn best from direct experiences, both in and out of
the classroom, and that well-planned educational visits to farms and
other countryside locations have an important part to play in a
child’s development. The charity
offers training and support for teachers, and access to a wide range of
high-quality curriculum-based resources. It plans to expand its regional
team over the next five years, to deliver this exciting and challenging
agenda across all the English regions and in Wales, and to fund this
through a new fundraising strategy, including new forms of membership.
FACE receives no government funding and will benefit from the support of
the public to fund its work. By becoming a
Friend of FACE you can help create practical and exciting opportunities
for young people including visits to farms and other countryside
locations, growing and harvesting of food in and around schools and
cooking and food preparation activities. You can also help ensure the
quality of these experiences by training more farmers and others to host
visits and to communicate their passion of food and farming, and by
helping teachers to make the most of learning outside the classroom (www.face-online.org.uk/members).
