HOLIDAY
MAKERS LIVING TO REGRET DRUNK CASUAL SEX
BED
hopping Brits live to regret their drunken sexual encounters while on
booze-fuelled holidays, a shocking new survey has found.
Research
from the definitive Durex Summer Sex Survey shows holiday makers are
likely to be drunk when they have casual sex (76%) but young women are
more likely to wish it’d never happened, with 44% saying they’d felt
sorry for themselves the morning after.
The
survey turned the spotlight onto the actions of holidaymakers aged 16
– 24 and more than a third said they went on holiday with the
intention of having casual sex.
On
average, people will have sex with four people while on holiday and 70%
said they’d have sex with a stranger, as they’ll never see them
again.
A
third don’t take condoms with them but 54% said they would buy them in
resort. Fifteen per cent expected their partner to supply one and 4%
said they were too embarrassed to take condoms through customs.
The
research also found 2% of men and 1% of women have come back with a
sexually transmitted infection after sex on holiday.
Ruth
Gresty, senior brand manager for Durex in the
UK
, said: “The Durex Summer Sex Survey 2006
is this season’s definitive report on young people’s attitudes to
sex while on holiday.
“It’s
clear when the heat is on and the booze is flowing, people’s
inhibitions fly out the window and they get carried away in the moment.
“Our
advice is to ensure you are always equipped with a condom if there is
the chance you are going to have sex and not to rely on your partner to
supply one.
“It’s
better to spend a few Euros on a condom than on another beer as good
sexual health is priceless.”
Nearly
half say they’ve had a holiday romance – with 52% keeping in touch
once the holiday’s over. More than a third (36%) say they’ve gone
away hoping to find the girl or boy of their dreams.
Brits
make the best lovers, according to the survey, with the Italians being
voted the sexiest and the French being the most romantic. The Turkish
were last on every count, closely followed by the Germans.
People
say they’re most likely to have sex in a hotel room or apartment –
but places such as the pool, the beach and the hotel balcony also get
the thumbs up. One respondent even said they’d had sex in the stock
cupboard of a bar.
