Parachute for the Brain & Spine Foundation - Anytime

FRONT PAGE

Feel the thrill of parachuting while raising vital funds for the Brain and Spine Foundation.

  If you ever wanted to do a parachute jump here is your chance.  The Brain and Spine Foundation are looking for hundreds of adventurous volunteers to make a fundraising parachute jump and if you raise enough in sponsorship you will get to jump for free.

There are two types of jump available - a ‘Tandem Skydive’ from 10,000 feet attached to a professional instructor and a ‘Static Line’ jump which is performed solo from up to 3,000 feet.  You can jump from any one of over twenty British Parachute Association approved airfields across the UK and no experience is necessary as all training is given.  Also if you raise over £280 for the Static Line jump and in excess of £350 for a Tandem jump you will receive your jump for free.

So if you would like to make a thrilling skydive from 10,000 feet or an exhilarating solo jump from up to 3,000 feet give us a call at the office on 020 7793 5910 - we will send you a full information pack and everything you need to take part in the experience of a lifetime.

Solo jumper Ian Barr, who raised £800 for the Foundation in August 2005, said "The skydive was an incredible experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. It's very addictive." Ian’s sister Jackie died at the age of 40 as a result of a brain tumour in 2004 so when he decided to do the jump he wanted to do it for a charity that his sister would have chosen.

The Brain and Spine Foundation offers a range of free services aimed at maximising the quality of life for people with neurological conditions (such as strokes, brain tumours, MS and Parkinson’s disease).  Services include a freephone Helpline, a website and information booklets covering all types of brain and spine conditions, and research projects.  The Foundation also works closely with children and teenagers who have been affected by a brain or spine injury.

The Brain and Spine Foundation are committed to improving services across the whole spectrum of neurological conditions, as well as recognition and awareness and impact of these conditions.

Neurological conditions are the most common cause of serious disability and have a major, but often unrecognised, impact on health and social services.

They affect all ages and people may experience the onset of a neurological condition at any time in their lives.

There are 10 million people in the UK living with a neurological condition which has a significant impact on their lives.

The Foundation’s main objectives are to:

expand access to quality information and support for patients and carers;

improve the skills of medical professionals and delivery of services to the public; raise the profile of neurological conditions and disabilities; and

*             increase the level of social research into neurological disorders.
