WEB DESIGN PACKAGE
FROM EASYGP.NET GIVES PRACTICES AFFORDABLE ONLINE PRESENCE
GP practices are increasingly aware of the benefits and opportunities
the internet can bring, but many are deterred by the time and costs
involved in putting their booking and information functions online.
Cambridge-based company, Easygp.net, is providing the answer with an
affordable package that includes website design and ongoing maintenance.
Practices can save valuable resources by giving patients direct access
to basic information such as opening times and holiday flu jabs, besides
interactive tools to register new patients, make appointments and order
repeat prescriptions. The websites can go even further, increasing
patient-practice communication with tools such as patient satisfaction
surveys and questionnaires. Syndicated health advice material is also
included, created exclusively for clients by a panel of practising
doctors and other clinicians.
These services not only enable busy practices to reduce personnel hours
and workload, but also help to maintain the higher level of contact with
patients stipulated in this year’s new GP government contract.
The sites are modular in design, giving each individual practice the
flexibility to tailor its online presence to suit its individual
objectives, needs and budget. The aim is to take the effort out of
creating a professional and up-to-date website, which can be added to
and developed over time. Each practice can decide how much it wants to
spend, with the average cost for a new website from Easygp.net being
around £700.
Alan Travers, Technical Director of Easygp.net, comments: “Getting a
practice online can be a real headache for busy doctors and practice
staff, while keeping the resulting site up-to-date and interesting for
its users is a particularly daunting task. Our package solves the time
and resources problem at a reasonable cost by pooling the efforts of our
expert designers with the community of medical professionals.”
Two of the existing sites created by Easygp.net have recently been voted
"must see" sites on gpwebsites.net - a database of global GP
websites.
Notes
About Easygp.net
Easygp.net was established in 2000 to offer website design to healthcare
practices. The company started by building bespoke websites for three
large practices in
Suffolk
. The current website package grew out of its experience in designing
those sites and the need to provide a cost-controlled service for GP
practices operating on tight budgets. A portfolio of live sites can be
viewed on www.easygp.net.
The Cambridge-based company has two designers, a content manager, plus a
panel of nine medical practitioners. In October 2003, it started
developing a web-based GP practice information management system in
conjunction with two large practices. This service will be rolled out in
spring 2005.
